Why doesn’t he just get the injections that way he doesnt have to involve that thing nearly O_O.

  2. 96sportsguy1 says:

I drink alot too. I will drink 3 cups of water, and then 5 minutes later be thirst again. I had 3 cokes and a diet coke last night in the same 30 minutes.

  3. lassegp says:

Could sound like Type 1, but lets hope its not. My symptoms was peeing at least every two hours, drinking 5 – 6 litres of liquid every day and my vision was rapidly getting worse.

  4. 96sportsguy1 says:

also my tounge has this white varnish over it

  5. 96sportsguy1 says:

I am 13 years ancient and lately i have been showing symptoms of type 1 diabetes.

    I am always thirsty
    I am always hungry
I have to go to the bathroom alot,
My skin is really dry in places.

My grandmother has type 1 and my mom just has hypo by itself. The doctor gave me a meter just to do a home test and my blood sugar always stayed linking 140-160. We have tp give the meter back…so. Sometimes i feel really shaky and weak. I am getting tested soon. Does anyone have any thought what this is?

    Hey Calvin-
Excellent job and nice explanation. I have a minimed paradigm 722 pump and I am fourteen years ancient. Excellent luck, brother.

  7. pinkxundefeated says:

we have a lot in ordinary

  8. JerichoDawg says:

I’m twelve years ancient as well. I’ve only had diabetes for about a year and a half but am still trying to find my hidey-hole in my new school. I’m on a insulin pump at the second, and A1C’s are fine (yay) but it’s so annoying when you’re changing for gym and people are just like “what’s that? what’s that?”. very annoying.

  9. pinkxundefeated says:

I am 12 years ancient, and i have had diabetes for 6 years now. my A1C’s are really terrible. every day is a battle

  10. bathsheba1uk says:

Never worry what others reckon, you are the one that is vital. Take care of yourselves xx

  11. bathsheba1uk says:

That is so fantastic! My son has diabetes too and he is 16. Today he was on his way to college had a hypo and had to sit down on the floor, i have always taught him no matter what, if your sugar is low, sit down and eat, does not matter if people stare or judge. society needs educating.

  12. DiabetesGirl3145 says:

That’s fantastic to hear. As a teen living with diabetes myself, I know what it is like to balance diabetes with all the other everyday struggles of being a teen. I’m glad to hear that Calvin is doing well. Did they discontinue the cozmo pump?

  13. IndoKochers says:

You guys should see Calvin now! He’s so much larger now, 14 and healthy as a horse. Last A1c was 7.6, better than the 7.9 three months ago. He eats a small better now, but as a teen, it’s hard to get him to test as often as he should. We tried the CGM (Continuous Glocuse Monitor) but it just doesn’t work well for us.
He’s not doing soccer any more :o (, but he’s doing High School marching band, along with a local wind ensemble, and loving it. Excellent grades, excellent kid, and still healthy. :o )

  14. IndoKochers says:

It’s kind of fun to watch this debate rage. We know we made mistakes-that’s why this is an fascinating video! :o )
I often wish he hadn’t gone “hi” that day. It was a first (and last!) for us. The combination of having a film crew in our house all morning, and this being the second game of the morning for me (out of three), made for a situation where I was not 100% aware of what he’d eaten and bolused for.
The pump was still a small new for us too, and I was worried he had a bent

  15. ketTV says:

Wow, what’s your problem? We can eat everything and also due to the fact that he is GROWING it could be horrible on his blood sugar. Plus, wasn’t he being active? God, idiot….

  16. tvoysey says:

The thing is though that he knew he was going to be playing sport, so he had to have a high sugar/carb meal to give him the energy. Im type 1 diabetic & being a diabetic doesnt mean that u cant eat any sugar or carbs, it just earnings you need to counter weight the quantity of insulin you spurt up to match the quantity of sugar youre eating, based against the activity your plotting to do. Its tough, but @ the end of the day its just like a normal person, only as the kid said, u have to do it manually.

  17. uncheesyman says:

My twin has diabetes and my dad says nearly the rigorous same things his dad says.. Oh and when my twin is HI on the meter, he tests again.

  18. Faullible says:

You cant eat like that. He basically ate a bunch of garbage(sugar and proccessed flour) for breakfast and dad wonders why he has problems all day. This is a shame to watch.

  19. DelphinusMinor says:

I’m curious tho. How long was it after he ate when he tested?

Should be at least 2hrs after eating to see what your preprandial numbers will be.

You shouldn’t right with a bolus unless you are high after this stage, not previous to, else you risk going low.

Also, a bolus is administering a SMALL quantity of quick acting insulin, not a large quantity.

I hope he wasn’t testing shortly after breakfast, and waited at least 2 hours.

    Fantastic vid.

Type 1 requires alot of patience and calculations.

  20. DelphinusMinor says:

I am bowled over Calvin eats cold cereal. That spikes most diabetics huge time, and the milk with it.

I eat whatever I want as well tho. Hah…

Rapid and designer insulins give you incredible flexibility tho.

Someone using insulin, and counting carbs, can eat what anyone else can, you just have to be careful like anyone else. With weight gain, etc.

We become our own pancreas, doing calculations, estimating, etc. Always changing.

  21. d103cc says:

cecilia he is not in the honey moon stage if he is on the pump and yes hey discontinued the cozmo

  22. DiabetesGirl3145 says:

    Did they discontinue the cozmo?

  23. DiabetesGirl3145 says:

You must still be in your honeymoon phase, I can’t believe that your blood sugar hardly goes above 110!!!

  24. DiabetesGirl3145 says:

Because Gatorade contains a lot of carbohydrates, it would make our blood sugar spike.

  25. soxamillion says:

    the same one
